Elana Rabinovitch, Executive Director of The Giller Foundation, is delighted to announce the inaugural Giller Power Panel of 2022. The January 17 event, entitled “The Art & Craft of Book Cover Design” will feature four of the award-winning designers of last year’s Scotiabank Giller Prize-shortlisted books.
The Giller Power Panels are monthly events that celebrate a dedicated theme. These panel-led discussions launched in February 2021, just in time to honour Black History Month. The aim of these panels is to gather experts in their field who will engage the Canadian public in ongoing social, political, and cultural issues. The Giller Power Panels are hosted each month from January to July.
Elana Rabinovitch, Executive Director of the Scotiabank Giller Prize, is thrilled to announce that the final 2021 Giller Prize Power Panel will take place on Monday, August 9, at 7 p.m. EDT and will celebrate the art of translation. Moderated by Eric Dupont, the conversation will explore the art of translation and the panel will include Katia Grubisic, Peter McCambridge, Rhonda Mullins and Susan Ouriou.

Moderated by Kama La Mackerel, the panel will feature: Arielle Twist, Catherine Hernandez, Joshua Whitehead and Lorimer Shenher.

We are thrilled to announce that the second Scotiabank Giller Prize Power Panel will take place on Monday, March 22, at 7 p.m. EDT and will celebrate International Women’s Day. The theme for this month will explore the challenges facing women writers in Canada, across age, race, and background. Moderated by The Globe and Mail’s Books Editor Judith Pereira, the group will feature the following renowned and award-winning Canadian novelists: writer, activist and journalist Susan Swan, author and journalist Karma Brown, Canadian writer, and poet Téa Mutonji.
